Vacancy Announcement: Driver

Driver

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Zambian to the United Nations in New York, invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of DRIVER. The Driver will operate with the Mission on a one-year renewable contract basis, commencing on 1st July 2024.

Qualifications

1. A minimum of five (5) years of work experience.
2. Preferably hold at least E-Class New York State Drivers’ License.
3. Must be a United States citizen or have a valid Work Permit.
4. Must be well versed in driving of Transit Van and Sedan.
5. Completion of Defensive Driving Course.
6. Previous work experience with another Mission or International Organisation will be an added advantage.
7. Proven knowledge in auto mechanism is desirable.
8. Must have a valid and clean Drivers’ License.

Job Description

1. Picking up and dropping off diplomatic staff and delegates for official duties.
2. Scheduling service and other routine maintenance for Mission vehicles.
3. Monitor mechanical problems and provide advise on course of action to the Mission Transport Officer.
4. Updating logbooks for vehicles.
5. Keep motor vehicles clean at all times.
6. Must be ready to work long hours.
7. Other duties as may be assigned by the Permanent Mission.

Desirable Qualities

1. Must be courteous.
2. Must be a team player.
3. Good command of English.
