Chargé d’Affaires at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Zambia to the United Nations, Mrs Regina Boma Phiri has joined the rest of the world in wishing women a happy International Women’s Day.
This year’s International Women’s Day is being celebrated under the theme, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.” which is aligned to the 67th Session of the Commission on Status of Women priority theme of “Innovation and technological change and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.”
Women should be celebrated for their critical role in society and are encouraged to take up science and technology in order to close the digital divide as this year’s theme has stressed the need for technology Innovation to advance gender equality.
This day recognises women’s incredible achievements and raises awareness for women to take up challenging roles in science and technology if gender equality is to be attained.
