The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Zambia to the United Nations wishes all the Youth a Happy Youth Day.

Zambia celebrates its Youth Day on March 12 and this year’s event is being commemorated under the theme, “Transforming Minds for Accelerated Youth Development”.

The Zambian youth in the tri-state area, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, should not be left behind regarding participation at all levels of development. This year, in collaboration with the Zambia Family Organisation, the Mission shall hold an event to engage with the youth in the tri-state area to exchange views on their experiences in living in America as a Zambian.

At the same time, member states of the UN recognise the importance of youth and values their participation. This has led to the establishment of the UN Youth Office last year which is soon to be operationalised. The Office’s mandate is centred around peace and security, sustainable development, human rights and inclusion of youth issues.

We wish the youth a peaceful and productive Youth Day.
