The Minister of Community Development and Social Services says there is need to enhance efforts in the promotion of disability inclusion in the current international juncture.
Hon. Doreen Mwamba, M.P., said this during the General Debate when she delivered a pre-recorded statement at the ongoing 17th Session of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Hon. Mwamba said Zambia, like many developing countries, has been challenged in its efforts to attain disability inclusion by various global factors.
The Hon. Minister said while the state party has made tremendous efforts to enhance disability inclusion in the development agenda, there were still many gaps in the realisation of disability inclusion.
And Hon. Mwamba said there was need to step up actions and put in place strategies to speed up the actualisation of disability inclusion and foster sustainable interventions for the future.
The conference was held under the theme, “Rethinking disability inclusion in the current international juncture and ahead of the Summit of the Future.” The conference concluded on 13th June 2024.
